Martignani: Nighttime Rehearsals at Sunset

Sunset. One of our favorite moments here at Martignani. The calm and serenity that the cultivated fields bring set in, and the darkness that follows the setting of the sun helps us understand the results of our treatments achieved with the help of our sprayers.

The past few months have been very busy. We’ve organized and participated in many events and field trials that demonstrate how Martignani sprayers work and the results they deliver.

Nighttime Trials

During the month of July, with the support of several of our collaborators, we conducted a series of field trials on various vineyards. For years, Martignani has been conducting this type of field trial to demonstrate to agricultural “operators and professionals” (technicians, farmers, agronomists, winemakers, customers, etc.) how our machines apply crop protection products.

The actual treatment was carried out in the late afternoon as the sun was setting, when the heat usually offers a bit of respite, after which we enjoyed the sunset while sipping fine wine, taking advantage of the tables set up as we waited to verify the results of the tests conducted—the outcome of which is highlighted by the fluorescent product used during the treatment, which is harmless to vegetation, settles on the target, and is highlighted by special UV LED lamps.

The results were excellent; the product hit the mark, and the ground drift and spray drift once again far exceeded our expectations and those of our guests.

The features of Martignani machines that set them apart from the competition are as follows:

negligible dripping
a significant reduction in drift thanks to the adjustable orientation of the outlets
electrostatic charge

In very simple terms, the electrostatic charge causes electrostatic fields to form between the plants—which are good conductors (sap, mineral salts, moisture, etc.)—and the mist dispensed by the outlets with an appropriate charge. The droplets, saturated with the active ingredient, are attracted to the vegetation, reducing losses due to drift and dripping even in windy conditions.

This is precisely what is demonstrated in the nighttime tests. The fluorescent product allows one to clearly see the excellent dye coverage on the vegetation and its absence on the ground and on the surrounding rows, comprehensively demonstrating the near absence of drift.
