What is grapevine powdery mildew
Grapevine powdery mildew, also known as white mold, is one of the most destructive vine diseases, on par with grapevine downy mildew. This is a mildew (uncinola necator) that if not stopped in time could affect the entire plantation.
It is very important, especially in the most at-risk vineyards, to start treatments early to effectively contain primary infections and prevent spread. This disease is not always predictable and has several stages in which it forms overwintering organs that then allow it to survive the winter and advance in infection. In addition, it develops within wide temperature ranges, that is, from 7 to 35 degrees.
The vineyards most at risk for grapevine powdery mildew are those that are hilly, in windy areas, and susceptible due to having suffered infections at the end of the previous season.
